The Group placed in each of these four categories are described in the State Data Center webpage item on comparing 1990 and 2000 data on race/ethnicity. In this and other tables produced from the SF1 files, data are shown for the predetermined (by the Census Bureau) categories of White Alone, Black Alone, American Indian or Alaskan Native Alon, Asian Alone, Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander Alone, Some Other Race Alone, and Two or more races. The data in these categories are not equivalent, and cannot be made equivalent, to those provided previously by the Texas State Data Center or data for 1990. In the tables from SF1 we have thus provided basic demographic values for the Texas population using the census categories of race and ethnicity to assist you in interpreting the data in the tables. Users should be careful to not make direct comparisons between these data and those produced previously by the Texas State Data Center or those from the 1990 Census.
